Radical Faith

What is faith?

In Hebrews 11:1, it says 'Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen'. Faith is believing in the impossible, it is believing in the things that we cannot see yet still we believe they are there. Faith is when we believe in the invisible God and His Word. Faith is very important in our journey of Christianity as it is needed in every aspect of our lives. It is needed when we have no more money left and we have to trust in God, our provider, it is needed when we are waiting to see if  we will get that job or that opportunity.

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV)

Without faith, it is impossible to please God. If we don't have faith then how can we be saved if we don't believe in God. We have to believe that He is. When we come to God, we must believe that He is a rewarder. He rewards those who diligently seek Him, who search for Him with their whole hearts and seek to spend time with Him.

There are many people in the bible who exercised their faith which can be seen in Hebrews 11 but there was a woman who had radical faith that she would be healed.

43 Now a woman having a flow of blood for twelve years who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any.
44 Came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.
45 And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?” When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?'
46 But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.”
47 Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately.
48 And He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” Luke 8:43-48 (NKJV)

This woman was suffering with an issue of blood for twelve years. She was tired of being sick and tired of going to the doctors. When she heard about Jesus, the man who heals, she decided maybe if I just touch the hem of His garment, I would be healed. Now that is radical faith, believing that if you just touch His garment that you would be healed without Him even first touching you. She had faith beyond her own imagination and beyond what seemed impossible to the human mind. She was radical.

Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
Mark 9:23 (NKJV)

Because of her faith, she was made whole in verse 48. Her faith caused her to come to a place where she recognized that with God all things are possible. We just have to believe like this woman.

As the apostles asked Jesus to increase their faith in Luke 17:5, God I asked that You would increase our faith, that we would believe fully in You. I pray that we will have no doubt, no unbelief but we would have radical faith in You no matter the situation and that we would touch the hem of Your garment. In Jesus' name, Amen.
